The thrombus was composed of a fibrin scaffold with interlaced areas of erythrocytes (asterisks), proteinaceous eosinophilic material (thin arrows), and multifocal varying amounts of neutrophilic granulocytes (thick arrows). No histological sings of thrombus organization, for example, fibroblast proliferation (granulation tissue) or re-endothelization, were obvious. Hemalum-eosin staining, Bar 50 mum.
