PERC Pulmonary Embolism Exclusion Rule

Eight criteria that, all negative and only in the patient with low clinical probability, allow pulmonary embolism to be ruled out without requesting a D-dimer. A single positive criterion invalidates the rule: then we must continue studying.

Required inputs

The inputs this calculator asks for inside the app.

Previous clinical probability of pulmonary embolism
Age 50 years or older

Surgery or trauma with hospitalization in the last 4 weeks
Unilateral edema of one leg

Run the calculation in the app

This page explains the score but does not run it. In Epistemis, the calculator validates units, flags values outside physiological ranges, and provides the interpretation that a number alone cannot convey.
