Initial workup
Otoscopy and acumetry; audiometry. If pulsatile or unilateral, image (MRI/angio).
red flags
Pulsatile or unilateral tinnitus with hearing loss (rule out vascular/tumor cause).
Standard management
- Treat the cause — remove ototoxics, extract earwax
- Sound therapy / CBT — management of chronic tinnitus
