Initial workup
Pattern (diffuse/localized), ferritin, TSH; traction and dermoscopy of the scalp.
red flags
Alopecia with scarring, peeling or nail and systemic involvement → assess dermatological/autoimmune cause.
Standard management
- Treat the cause — correct iron/thyroid
- Minoxidil / finasteride — androgenic alopecia
