Initial workup

Rule out organic cause in the first episode (ECG, blood glucose, TSH); GAD-7 screening.

red flags

Chest pain, syncope or low SatO₂ → rule out a cardiac cause or PE before attributing it to anxiety.

Standard management

  • Containment and breathing — front line in the crisis
  • Benzodiazepine — punctual if intense; avoid becoming chronic
