Why it occurs
- Gastroenteritis

- Diabetic ketoacidosis
Initial workup
Estimate degree (weight, mucous membranes, capillary refill, diuresis); blood glucose if suspected.
red flags
Lethargy, absence of tears/urine, slow capillary refill → severe dehydration.
Standard management
- Oral rehydration — rehydration serum
- IV Serum Therapy — yes intolerance or serious
