Initial workup

Pulse and ankle-brachial index (ABI); control of risk factors; refer if it is disabling or critical.

red flags

Cold, pale leg, without pulse and with pain at rest → critical/acute ischemia (vascular urgency).

Standard management

  • Antiplatelet and statin — cardiovascular prevention
  • Cilostazol — improves walking distance
