Initial workup

Take temperature and look for a focus; blood cultures if there is high fever or suspicion of sepsis.

red flags

Intense chills with high fever and hypotension → possible bacteremia/sepsis: urgency.

Standard management

  • Anti-thermal — paracetamol
  • Treat the infection — according to focus
