Initial workup
Search focus by systems; blood count, CRP, urine; blood cultures if there are severity criteria.
red flags
Fever + neck stiffness, petechiae, confusion, hypotension or immunosuppression → urgency (sepsis/meningitis).
Standard management
- Paracetamol — 1st line anti-thermal
- Ibuprofen — antipyretic/anti-inflammatory if there is no contraindication
