Initial workup

CBC with platelets, coagulation (PT/aPTT); review drugs and liver disease.

red flags

Spontaneous hematomas with petechiae, mucosal bleeding or after minimal trauma → urgent coagulation study.

Standard management

  • Review anticoagulation/antiaggregation — adjust if applicable
  • Treat the cause — according to blood count and coagulation
