Initial workup

Confirm with multiple shots/MAP; kidney function, ionogram, ECG and fundus.

red flags

Very high BP + chest pain, neurological deficit or dyspnea → hypertensive emergency.

Standard management

  • ACEI/ARA-II — 1st line in many profiles
  • Calcium antagonists — 1st line, useful in >55 years
  • Thiazides — 1st line, combinable
