Initial workup
Otoscopy and acumetry (Rinne/Weber); audiometry; distinguish transmissive/neurosensory.
red flags
Sudden unilateral hearing loss (ENT emergency) or with neurological focality.
Standard management
- Withdrawal of ototoxic drugs — aminoglycosides, furosemide, cisplatin
- Corticoid — in sudden, early sensorineural hearing loss
