Initial workup

Complete examination (abdomen, genitals, ears, cornea, fingers); ultrasound if intussusception is suspected.

red flags

Crying with vomiting, “currant jelly” stools or painful abdomen → intussusception (urgency).

Standard management

  • Treat the cause — reduction if invagination; analgesia
