Initial workup

Rule out acute abdomen and pregnancy; ionogram if they are intense/prolonged.

red flags

Vomiting + severe abdominal pain, focal headache, hematemesis or severe dehydration → assess urgency.

Standard management

  • Metoclopramide — prokinetic/antiemetic
  • Ondansetron — intense vomiting or due to chemotherapy
  • Serum therapy — replace fluids if dehydration
