  • Anemia
  • Shock / hypoperfusion
  • Vasoconstriction (cold, fear)
  • Hypothyroidism

Initial workup

CBC (anemia) and vital signs; assess bleeding or poor perfusion.

red flags

Sudden paleness with tachycardia, hypotension and sweating (acute bleeding/shock).

Standard management

  • Treat anemia — iron, B12/folic or transfusion according to cause
