Initial workup
Meningeal signs (Kernig/Brudzinski); In case of fever or thunderclap headache, urgent neuroimaging and lumbar puncture.
red flags
Neck stiffness with fever and headache, or "thunderclap" headache → meningitis/SAH (vital emergency).
Standard management
- Do not delay if there is suspicion — antibiotic + dexamethasone if bacterial meningitis
