  • Gonococcal urethritis
  • Non-gonococcal urethritis (Chlamydia)

Initial workup

Gram stain and culture/PCR for gonococcus and chlamydia; screening for other STIs.

red flags

Also treat your partner and rule out other STIs; discharge with fever and testicular pain → epididymitis/orchitis.

Standard management

  • Ceftriaxone — gonococcus coverage
  • Doxycycline/azithromycin — Chlamydia coverage
