DLCO Corrected by Hemoglobin and KCO Coefficient

A low DLCO in an anemic patient may just be anemia. The Cotes correction, recommended by ATS/ERS, separates the membrane defect from the transport defect, and the KCO indicates whether the drop is due to volume loss or interstitial disease.

Required inputs

The inputs this calculator asks for inside the app.
VariableExample value
DLCO measurement (mL/min/mmHg)18
Predicted DLCO (mL/min/mmHg)26
Hemoglobin (g/dL)10
Sex and age
Alveolar volume (liters)4.5

Run the calculation in the app

This page explains the score but does not run it. In Epistemis, the calculator validates units, flags values outside physiological ranges, and provides the interpretation that a number alone cannot convey.
