ROX Index for High Flow Nasal Cannula
A single number that predicts whether high flow will work: ratio between saturation relative to FiO₂ and respiratory rate. It is measured 2, 6 and 12 hours after starting it, and its value is in avoiding late intubation.
Required inputs
| Variable | Example value |
|---|---|
| Oxygen saturation by pulse oximetry (%) | 93 |
| Delivered FiO₂ (fraction, 0.21 to 1.0) | 0.5 |
| Respiratory rate (per minute) | 26 |
| Time of measurement from the start of high flow | — |

This page explains the score but does not run it. In Epistemis, the calculator validates units, flags values outside physiological ranges, and provides the interpretation that a number alone cannot convey.
