Initial workup

Glyceemia, ionogram, toxins; Cranial CT/MRI and EEG.

red flags

Seizures >5 min or repeated without regaining consciousness → status epilepticus (emergency).

Standard management

  • Benzodiazepines (diazepam/lorazepam) — prolonged crisis / status
  • Correct cause — glucose, ions, toxic
