Initial workup
Assess the airway (urgency if there is difficulty); Do not explore the throat if epiglottitis is suspected.
red flags
Stridor with respiratory distress, drooling or cyanosis → airway obstruction (emergency).
Standard management
- Oxygen + corticosteroid — croup/bloating
- Adrenaline — angioedema/anaphylaxis or severe croup
