Initial workup

Fractional bilirubin, transaminases, FA/GGT; abdominal ultrasound.

red flags

Jaundice + fever and pain in the right upper quadrant (cholangitis) or encephalopathy → urgency.

Standard management

  • Treat the cause — there is no 'anti-jaundice' drug; remove hepatotoxics
