Initial workup

Pregnancy test; transvaginal ultrasound; endometrial biopsy according to age and risk.

red flags

Heavy bleeding with instability, or postmenopausal → study (rule out neoplasia).

Standard management

  • Treat the cause — hormonal or surgical
  • Tranexamic acid — heavy bleeding
