Initial workup

ECG, orthostatic constants and blood glucose; history to distinguish cardiogenic from vasovagal.

red flags

Exertional syncope, without prodromes, with heart disease or sudden family death → urgent cardiological study.

Standard management

  • Postural measures/hydration — vasovagal syncope
  • Treat the cardiac cause — if arrhythmic/structural origin
