Otoscopy and audiometry; MRI if unilateral, pulsatile or with asymmetric hearing loss.

red flags

Pulsatile or unilateral tinnitus with hearing loss → imaging study (vascular/tumor).

Standard management

  • Treat the cause — remove ototoxics; hearing aids if there is hearing loss
