Initial workup

Anamnesis and gynecological examination; rule out infection, atrophy or endometriosis.

red flags

Dyspareunia with fever, purulent discharge and pelvic pain (PID).

Standard management

  • Lubricants/topical estrogen — in vaginal atrophy
  • Treat infection or endometriosis — according to cause
