Initial workup

ECG and, if intermittent, Holter; TSH, blood count and ionogram.

red flags

Palpitations + syncope, chest pain or dyspnea → Urgent ECG to rule out malignant arrhythmia.

Standard management

  • Beta blockers — frequency control
  • Treat the cause — thyroid, anemia, toxic
